First go rejected as too big.  Obviously my added text with Lindell's images exceeded the limit.  Well done Mailer Daemon.  I try again.

My experience over the last 6 years is that the Frogmouths at our place spend the first 2 or 3 months of the calendar year exploring the wider extent of their ~50Ha territory (during which process they kick the chicks out to fend for themselves somewhere else) but from April onwards they are found most times in one or other of their roosts in the ~1Ha core of their territory.   Assuming this pair behave similarly, I'd rate it as 'returned'.

This year is surprising in that they have used the same roost every day that we have been home since 28 April.  In previous years they have generally changed roosts after a maximum of 7 days.

On a very quiet bird-wise morning I was glad to find this pair of Tawny Frogmouths (still there or having returned) at the Tharwa SW.
And where this trio of mallards came from who knows - I have not seen these on the Namadgi VC dam before. The boys appeared to be doing some kind of 'attraction' routine in unison.
 Interesting!
