Subscribers venturing this way might also like to check out Lake Williams adjacent to the Nimmitabel township.  When I stopped there about 3 months ago, I could see Red-kneed and Black-fronted Dotterel, White-fronted Chat and a Spotted Crake from the picnic table there.

Today we came back from Mallcoota by the scenic route (via Towamba, Wyndham and Cathcart) .  A very scenic drive.  On the outskirts of Cathcart we noticed a sign to Cooma along Black Lake Road.  This seemed to cut off several kms delivering oe to Bibbenluke on the Cooma-Bombala Rd.

About half way along the 9km road was the promised Lake.  It is about 900m long and 500m wide but had an astonishing number of water birds on it.  My estimate was at least 1000 Coots, 500 Grey Teal and 100 Chestnut teal.  16 Black Swans 2 Shelduck, 26 Masked Lapwings 6 Black-winged Stilt etc etc.
