Laura Johnson will bring findings from her research into the relationships
between Red Wattlebirds and Koels to the Field Naturalists' meeting on Thursday
3rd April.
"The Red Wattlebird doesn't occur in the Koel's original breeding grounds in
Queensland and it is not currently known whether Red Wattlebirds possess any
defences against brood parasitism by koels." Do Canberran wattlebirds recognise
Koels as threats to their breeding efforts?
We meet in the Gould Wing's Seminar Room off Daley Road, ANU. (Building 116)
Meeting begins at 7.30pm, all welcome!
There's no charge. We do hold a no-obligation, informal raffle where the prizes
include locally-grown produce, pre-loved books and insufficiently-loved
gifts/bric-a-brac.
Join us for light refreshments afterwards.
Rosemary
