Here are a couple of screengrabs from BA birdata

The nearest filled square in the second image is (according to Google Earth) approximately 120km in a straight line from Ulladulla.

I hope the observer was encouraged to put in a report to the Rarities Panel.

Last night at the COG meeting I was told of a brief obs (at O'Connor I think) of a Pacific Baza. I don't know how sure the observation is. But due to the brevity of the obs, and the location, the observer was not yet broadcasting. If correct, it would be a first for our area. Actually we are not all that far out of its range limit, so it seems possible. The nearest one I know of recently is Denis Wilson's one for Albion Park district in July 2011.
