Had great views, albeit briefly at 90 km/h, of most likely the same bird yday afternoon. Cruising 1m over the long grass virtually over the guard rail on Monaro Hwy heading North before it goes over the train tracks. One of the best (just above eye level) and closest (<5m) views I've ever had of the species!

Just before midday a Spotted Harrier (I think) was hunting low to the ground along  the fence line  just west of the Jerrabomberra Silt Trap, eventually perching on a fence post.

Snapped at distance across the silt trap.
