I've always used a soft first G (giraffe) and a hard second G (goat), and
the second syllable pronounced "gony". Hope this helps.

Subject: Pronunciation of "Gerygone"
Hello,
I was happy to some White-throated Gerygone at Tidbinbilla the other
week, but I have no idea how to pronounce "gerygone". It was the
subject of much discussion between my girlfriend and me.
Can anybody enlighten me, please?
Cheers,
Huw.
