Large numbers of waterbirds have resorted here, the below being the view, from outside the southern fence, of part of pond 4  [Rusk/COG numbering].  There are more than 100 birds in that snap, mainly ducks with a high proportion of pink-ears. That would be perhaps one quarter of the total waterbirds in view.  Pond 6 is dry and ponds 5 and 7 had few birds.  Entry to the ponds remains forbidden, perhaps not a bad thing at the moment as the ducks, being refugees not habituated to birdwatchers, would probably take flight at a closer approach.
