As I was unable to get a photo or have a second person confirm my sighting I will follow the COG advice of "If in doubt leave it out". I am not familiar with the waders and have discovered that separating Pectorals from Sharpies is difficult. Advice from COG members, information on the chatline and Geoffrey's photos have assisted in taking this action. It is frustrating being unable to record a new bird, however the reward from seeing a sandpiper in a place where I have not seen it before more than compensates for the loss. The chatline serves an important function and I thank those who have contributed.
