The editors of Gang-gang may wish to use this as a the trip report.

18 members and guests gathered outside the paintball park for the first COG outing to this area.  The basic route was walking up through the pines and then following the railway line to the siding.  We walked back down the Old Tuggeranong Rd.  This gave quite a range of habitats with some eucalypt woodland in Another State across the railway line and open pasture on the way back down.

Bird of the Day was Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo with a fairly large group trashing the pine cones at the top of the walk.  Several Rufous Whistlers were heard and seen as we ascended and a female Golden Whistler near the high point.  Eastern Yellow Robins were also evident during the climb and a Scarlet Robin was calling in the pines.

By the time we descended the heat was beginning to be felt and few birds were evident in the open area.  10 Australian Magpies were seen at one point and 2 Australasian Pipits were recorded.

The only breeding record was a Red-browed Finch carrying a long grass stalk, which was put down as Nest Building rather than Display.

Overall we recorded 32 species.  A full list will be included on the Trips section of the COG website in due course.

For the information of those attending a bird list is attached.

The editors may wish include the following notice in the future trips section
The Wednesday Walk for January will be to Stony Creek  Nature Reserve at Urriara Crossing.  Meet at 8:30 at the Southern end of Urriara East Picnic Area (ie Canberra side of the Crossing, turning left when entering the car park).  Bring plenty of water.  The outing will be cancelled if a total fire ban is declared.
