I have just put the sign, you refer to, up as people have been walking out at this point to the water’s edge (birders and non-birders) and scattering the birds. As this is the current location of the Painted Snipe and where both species of dotterel have been trying to nest, I want to reduce the disturbance. They have enough trouble dealing with foxes and egg eating birds without people unnecessarily adding to the threat.

Thanks to Frank Antram for letting me use his scope to see the PS today

I waited in Ardea for a long while and saw the dock-spot bird move out and around the swamp; unfortunately nonbirdos came along, were noisy and disturbed the bird when it was closest to me in the hide;

I reckon there are two birds in the bay area behind the dock spot.

Watching the bay area, in the open,  down from the sign further west of Ardea which says `wildlife refuge,… do not enter or some such’ was also fruitful.
