At the Stony Creek site yesterday one pair of D Ws had a nest a few metres up in the top of a burnt stump.  3 young had taken flight prematurely and had fluttered away to various distances.  The parents chided and encouraged 2 of the chicks up from the ground to a low perch, then up into shrubbery, then onto the stump, then back into the nest where feeding was resumed.  A case of DY to NY
