I came across the Pectoral Sandpiper at 7am in poor light, taking a bath at the very number 6 location where David Andrew reported the same behaviour.  We might never know what quality of the swamp water at that spot recommends itself as an aid to cleanliness in the Pectoral Sandpiper, but there must be something there.  The procedure was interrupted by that pugnacious little charadriid, the Red-kneed Dotterel, which evicted the PS to the vicinity of number 7, and soon after it disappeared from view altogether.
