#7a  -  to record interesting behaviour.

The Western Treatment Plant now has thousands – probably tens of thousands -  of Whiskered Terns. The main thing they are feeding on seems to be lurking in the abundant yellow-flowering weed, generally growing along the banks and ditches.  The terns hover over this, head to the strong winds, occasionally crashing into it (arrows).  The plant doe seem to harbour many flies and moths, but the main attraction might be those elongated beetles like the ones that sometimes turn up in Canberra gardens.
