Hi all,

Pawel is a PhD student working on the calls of members of the rail family. He is especially interested in localities where he can record the species he is interested in locally, the 3 species of crake, the Buff-banded Rail and to a lesser extent, Lewin’s Rail. Next week I will be taking Pawel around some of the know haunts of these species but he will be especially interested to know of sites where these species are regularly recorded. I have already told him of the sewage works at Lake Cargellico where the three crakes can usually be readily seen. I just hope it has enough water getting in to it to stop it drying out.

If people know of areas where he might also find species such as the Chestnut Rail, White-browed Crake and the Pale-vented Bush-hen he would be most interested.

Please contact Pawel at the email address above if you can help him.

Thanks,

Mark
