I dropped into Kellys Swamp on my way home this evening and heard then saw a male Scarlet Honeyeater in the casuarinas just outside Bittern Hide. Not far from where Steve Wallace found and showed me one in a flowering grevillea on 25 Oct last year.

I was at Kingston shops at lunchtime and I am positive that I heard a Scarlet honeyeater in the trees lining Jardine St on the Telopea Park side of the shops.  I couldn’t see the bird but it called many times.  I am very familiar with the call as I hear and see the birds regularly at Broulee.

Perhaps someone else has seen or heard it in the vicinity.
