No never tested the Vortex Warranty. I have not had them long and bought them following the recommendation of a Canadian bird enthusiast friend.
They are a US brand, made in the Phillipines I think. They specialise in gunsights I think, but in binoculars as well obviously. They make models well over $1000 but I find it hard to think how the Diamondback can be improved upon in any significant way relevant to birdwatching. Maybe for other purposes.
I hope I don't have to test the warranty soon but whole of life no question asked demonstrates confidence in their own product.
I am sure there are other excellent binoculars out there and I don't criticise any of them. But several sites actually recommend them as birdwatching binoculars. If you Google 'Vortex Diamondback' you will find several reliable Australian sites to purchase one.
I will see what I can find out about the warranty, out of interest.

That sounds good. Although I hope I never need to buy another one. Can't say I have ever heard of that brand. Have you ever had need to test the guarantee (or know someone who has)? If they also adhere to that, it sounds even better.

Hi Brian,
An amazingly good bargain in binoculars is the Vortex 8 x 42 Diamondhead. I cannot sing its passes highly enough. It is an excellent birdwatching binocular  at only about $250 with all the features of very expensive binoculars and better than any other people's binoculars I have actually tried. 8 x is really all you need as you have excellent field of view which is just as important as magnification for bird watching. 8 x 42 is what the Defence Forces issue.  Vortex have also 10 x 42  in Diamondhead which i am sure would be fine and also more expensive models than Diamondhead but mine is fantastic. Amazing as all that is, they also have FULL LIFETIME NO QUESTIONS ASKED GUARANTEE, irrespective of damage. dropped, submerged, scratched, run over or whatever. Amazing. If the higher priced models are better, I find it hard to improve on what I have.
Regards
John
