Mr and Mrs Rufous Whistler engaged in a beautiful gavotte of courtship this morning. One high on a bare branch of a deciduous tree above facing towards the other and bowing while the other did the same on a branch below. They alternated in a sweet love song while bowing, then each moved to a branch below until they reached the lowest branch followed by ... I leave to your imagination. RW usually simply deafens us with violently loud calls or the simple single note.  This song was melodic and repeated by each in turn.  A lovely 7am event.
