I didn't see any Spotted Crakes, Dotterels or Grassbirds at Crace today, although I wasn't there long. However, I did see two Baillon's Crake's (see attached
bad-but-recognisable photo), a Richard's Pipit, 2 or 3 Reed Warblers (fleeting glimpses, but near constant calls) and the rest. The crake's were in the central alley through the reeds, so difficult to see but I was lucky enough that they popped out the end
for a few moments to get a good view and this snap, if only my camera had been on the right setting…

Subject: [canberrabirds] More Crakes in Crace Pond
Back in early July I reported an Australian Spotted Crake in Crace pond. I went back there today and again found a Spotted Crake, as well as a Baillon's Crake. (Others have found several Spotted Crakes there. I have only managed one.)
For those who don't know where Crace Pond is, it is a very new artificial wetland in the area bounded by Gundaroo Drive, Abena Ave, Chance St and Digby Cct. It doesn't appear on Google Maps imagery. It is so new that the water plants are
still in neatly planted rows.
There were also at least 4 Black-fronted Dotterels, a number of Reed Warblers singing loudly, a Little Grassbird, Pacific Black Ducks, Hardheads, Grey Teal, Coots & Moorhens.
