To those brave souls who are still willing to brave the elements and take a walk around Mount Majura vineyard (MMV) tomorrow morning (Sunday 845am for 9am start) please read the following:
1. It is going to be very cold and possibly wet, please ensure appropriate clothing and footwear is worn, 2. Entry to MMV requires care and caution due to ongoing construction of new Majura Parkway. Entrance to MMV is in the same place, and the speed limit along the road has been reduced though there is still potential danger on entering, especially if you are coming from the North, ie, Federal Hwy, Gunghalin etc. There are now concrete barriers on the opposite side of the road so if you have to stop on Majura Rd to turn across oncoming traffic into MMV, give ample notice via your indicators and it may helps to touch your brake pedal a few times to alert cars travelling behind you that you intend to turn. Cars behind you will have to stop also, unlike previously, where they could go around you via a generous bitumen shoulder (which now is inaccessible). Ensure that this indication occurs before the brown MMV tourist sign and you should be fine. Coming from the South, ie, airport, Costco etc, please also give ample indication of your turn though a shoulder is available before a rather sharp turn into MMV on your left.
Once off the Majura Rd, please drive up to the MMV carpark next to the winery. On previous walks here, cars have congregated at the front gate and this may compound the problems back on Majura Rd. The track up the the MMV carpark is gravel though smooth, and now has many signs and construction devices along it, but takes the same route...I will be in the MMV carpark well in good time to greet even the earliest of arrivals.
If you have any questions regards the above please do not hesitate to call/text me on 0404 330 965. On a postitive note, many nice species (not to be named) have been spotted the past week, just hope the inclement weather, and possible snow, doesnt keep them away? :)
At the walk's conclusion, approx 11am but dependent on weather/group, there will be a (free) seated tasting of MMV wine available (indoors!) and also plunger coffee for $3.50...people are also welcome to bring their own morning tea of course :)
See you in the morning Stuart Harris
