This morning there was a crowd of Currawongs having a party at Mawson. I've heard them do this before in Mawson and also in other places; large numbers of Currawongs collect in a small area and fly around making a great deal of noise. Has there been any research into the cause of this behaviour? Is it territorial, or something else? They don't seem to be fighting, unless it's with volume. It seems to me to be more like a corroboree - birds from all around the area coming together to have a sing-along. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? ======= Rob Geraghty |
