Margaret,
Southern Whitefaces are resident in the local area but are generally declining in our neck of the woods. Many years ago when a group of us were banding along the Lake Road whitefaces were common. I no longer see them in many of their old haunts. It is a bird that we need to keep an eye on locally.

Very interested about the whiteface. I thought they were summer visitors. Correct?
Margaret,
Hello all.
I took a drive down Lake Rd again this afternoon. The Pink-eared and Freckled ducks are still on the big dam. Also a large family group of choughs, with what looked like a couple of immatures, as well as 2 common bronzewings. Yellow-rumped thornbills, red-browed finch and kookaburras were also present.
At the very end of the road there was what I believe to be 2 Flame Robins (both male), and 2 Southern Whiteface. If someone could confirm these I would be very grateful, as I have not seen either species before. I apologise for the quality of the photos, it was dusk, so the light wasn't very good.
