Each day for the past 3 months I have seen or heard them – or held the belief I could easily locate them at will. Not having heard one today I gave myself the challenge of picking them up on a brisk 40 minute walk, and found 2 feeding on Liquidambar 2.5m above Elizabeth’s letterbox in Wells Gardens. The key to their presence, of course, is food. They have been less obvious recently, and I predict will be even less so in June when they will resort to seedier spots in the Southern Highlands residential zone.

For what it is worth, I saw 6 at flying over the intersection of Launceston St & Melrose Dr in Woden at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Though as with all these things, that is as much a record of that is where I was at that time, rather than just the birds. Having said that, I believe I have not encountered the species anywhere in the Tuggeranong valley (or at least in Kambah) for about a year.

I’m not sure who’s watching/counting Canberra Gang-gangs but there were ten in Forest on Canberra Ave this morning.
