COG had a display at the Wetlands Open Day, held today (Sunday) on a warm and breezy day. Quite a few people stopped by, at least one person joined up on the spot (several other people took membership forms away), and many more promised to check out our website for more information.
A list of birds seen at the wetlands in past 5 years had been prepared as a handout, and a gold star goes to very new COG member Dugald Maxwell, who added a new species to the site list. While on a guided walk with ranger Michael, Dugald spotted a well-hidden Eastern Barn Owl in a tree between Cygnus hide and the wetlands offices. A record has now been added to the database, and several of us wandered up and had a good look at this beautiful bird.
Thanks to Chris D., and member Maree P., who helped Lia and I with set-up of the COG tent.
