I mention this as when I was learning about Honeyeater migrations, back in the 60s, at Pine Island, and other places along the Murrumbidgee, the theory was that the Honeyeaters would only migrate on sunny days.

I have harboured that myth for nigh on 50 years, so imagine my surprise when I walked out in the fog to collect my rubbish bin from the road, and was nearly hit in the head by a small flock of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, flying low and fast, and clearly on the standard migration route past my place (in Robertson, NSW).

The time was 8:45 AM.
The visibility was about 200 metres.
Such fogs and mists are common in Robertson after a thunderstorm (as we experienced the night before).
The fog has not yet cleared (as I write, at 10:25 PM)
I have attached a photo of the view (or lack of it) to show quite how dull the sky was.

Another fondly-held myth destroyed.
