As others have said, Saturday was a great day for birding. We were just through the fence on our Mt Majura sites when we could hear a noisy mixed flock, so we furiously tried to identify the range of species and their numbers in only 10 minutes as they moved across the site – 2 highlights were 3 (& possibly 4) Speckled Warblers as well as a resplendent Scarlet Robin. Also present were both pardalotes, Yellow-rumped, Buff-rumped, Brown and Striated Thornbills, Superb Fairy-wrens, Grey Fantail and more. We paid for this abundance at the next 3 sites by only hearing/seeing 3 individual birds at each site. Site 5 was again good with a bonus of Brown Falcon which was a welcome and very rare addition to our Woodland surveys at Mt Majura. The 4 sites behind Hackett were less inspiring with a couple of Noisy Miners, King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas accounting for most of the sitings.
