I thought to go and check the new Big Dam today and had a great time.  Highlights were two Royal Spoonbill, 1 Whistling Kite (which stooped into the water but didn't appear to seize any prey); good numbers of both Dotterels, 13 Australasian Shoveler and 21 Australian White Ibis flying over.  Some commentary and a few images are on my blog.

As I drove along Horse Park Drive I was intrigued to see street signs referring to Well Station Drive (which is also shown on Google Maps).  I thought it was Wells Station.  Apparently it has been known as Wells Station since about 1910 but someone in the Land Development Agency has had enough time on their hands to find that it was originally "Well Station" and thus 100 years of usage are overturned.
