It seems I wrote too soon. I heard the adult (or maybe a different one) again this morning. There was however a gap of several days for the first time since spring.

There was one also calling in Latham this morning – was surprised to hear it as I hadn’t heard them for over 3 weeks.

I have noticed that I stopped observing (mostly hearing) the dy Koel within probably a day of when I stopped observing (mostly hearing) the adult male Koel at my house about a week ago. Some time ago I would not have thought that would happen or that there would be such a connection. It seems suggestive of a connection to me. The young bird fed on the grapes just outside my window here for several days, still being tended to by the Red Wattlebirds to a decreasing extent.
