Sunday afternoon I was washing dishes at the kitchen sink (my life is that exciting). The magpie just outside the window stopped looking down at food and looked up quite markedly, turning its head in their suggestive manner. I went outside to check on maybe why. Several birds flying around very high and mostly by all the sound it was clear that most were galahs. But one wasn't. They were so high I couldn't tell what was higher but the other bird was a Peregrine Falcon. Although that was confirmed after I went inside to get the binoculars and the galahs had moved on and the PF did a circuit and then flew off eastwards. I think the Magpie knew and could see it was so far away there was no point getting involved. Philip |
