Yes I agree that the hind and middle toenails of this bird are very long, I think unusually so for such a bird. However my curiosity was raised with it has 2 small claws about half way down its foot. That is not correct. What I think you are misinterpreting is simply the toenail of the outer and inner toes held somewhat close to the middle toe, rather than spread out to the more usual position.

         This photo of a Red-browed Finch was taken at Karma Reserve this afternoon,It’s the first time that I have noticed how long its claws are, and that it has 2 small claws about half way down it’s foot.
