Dear Steve,
I am sorry that i did not recognise you this morning and I did not take in when
everyone was introduced. I would like to have had a bit of a chat. There are
not many people in COG, who, when they find a nesting bird, follow it through
to see whether the breeding has been successful. But you seem to want to do
it. I am keen on doing that
I have not had much luck in following nesting birds this year. A few weeks ago
I saw a red browed firetail taking spider web into an exotic shrub at Campbell
Park. Well, I saw a rbf going into the nest, perhaps once afterwards; then
blue wrens seemed to have taken it over; but they nest nearer the ground, I
thought. Trouble is, we don't go often enough to CP. Also saw weebills
starting a nest, but they seemed to give up. And I was sure that a couple of
dollar birds, always high in the trees at CP were nesting nearby; but they did
not lead me to a nest.
I have known Geoffrey for some time. Ages ago, when not so many people had
good cameras, I would call Geoffrey to come quickly and take a photo of a nest
I had found. He always obliged
Have you had success where you are? Did you see an osprey? Interesting that
one has been seen at Googong Dam
Elizabeth
