Hi Marnix
I'm afraid all the Little Tern nests at Burrill Lake were raided by a fox, a total of 24 eggs and two chicks being taken. Besides the Tabourie birds we have had 42 successful nests in the electrified area at L Conjola.
I doubt that the Fairy tern you spotted would be one of the 2 that were inter-breeding at Burrill, there has been and still are, Fairy Terns at L Conjola which are relatively easy to distinguish when flying owing to their much much paler primaries compared to the Little Terns easily seen dark tips.
Bob
PS - An exhausted Juv Sooty Tern was picked up at Bawley Point a couple of days ago.

Hi all

Outside of the COG AOI but thought worth mentioning. The Little Terns seem to have left Burrill Lake. However, at Lake Tabourie I found 7 Little Terns and a Fairy Tern. One pair of Littles were busy feeding two downy chicks inside the shorebird fence.

I wonder if the Fairy is the same bird recorded at Burrill Lake.
