On the Native Plant Soc Wednesday Walk to Mulligans
Flat today we saw 2 Superb Parrots flying west at 0910h ~200m in from the old
school site (where the old pine trees are) on Gundaroo Rd. Another ~200m
further in we heard one calling in a mistletoe clump near the top of
an E melliodora ~0915h. It was calling frequently but it was too
difficult to see if it was a juvenile. At the Woodland Gate we heard one calling
in an E blakelyi about 6m above the ground at ~0930h. It had a short
tail. After a few minutes it moved higher up into an E mell. On our
return ~1300h the latter bird was in a mistetoe clump in the same tree calling
freequently, almost constantly.
I suspect the two single bids were waiting for the
parents to return with food calling frequently so the parents could locate
them.
We saw two more Superbs flying SW at the Horsepark
Dr x Gundaroo Dr intersection ~1300h.
