After hearing the local male Koel for the last few weeks, I finally observed
the female five minutes ago, feeding in our front mulberry tree in Higgins. She
seemed surprised by my appearance at the foot of the tree, and took off across
the yard, where she was quickly pursued by the male Koel, who was calling
excitedly.
It may also be of note that there was a pair of red wattle birds in a
neighbouring tree, keeping a watchful eye.
