Some discussion re the recent p-snipe of its unlikely preference for a typha bed.  These chaps are said to favour ephemeral marsh, at least for breeding (Rogers et al).  The 2011 Jerra occurrence, and the more recent one at West Belconnen, were along those lines as regards habitat. However it does seem they can turn up in all sorts of places when not breeding.  Typha was the backdrop to the below sightings, as reflected in the poem I believe I have inflicted on you previously.  The Edithvale (Melbourne suburb) male was famous as it was right in front of the hide for several weeks attracting an army of lifetickers.
