Cruising slowly along Parkwood Road at 06:30 today I noticed what I took to be a Spotted Harrier perched on a fence post on the other side of the road. Just as I pulled over a truck sped past travelling in the opposite direction. Nonetheless, the harrier remained on the post as I rolled down the window and focussed the binos. I had good views of the bird for about 5 seconds until it lifted off and flew slowly across the paddocks keeping just above the fences.
