Returning today from 4 days in Melbourne, I tracked down two Koels within my GBS area. Considering the amount of noise they were making and the aggravation incited in the Wattlebirds, Friarbirds and Magpies, I thought there was more than two but I only actually saw one male and one female at the same time. Once again found an interested (human) neighbour looking at the two birds.

This season I have heard little koeling around Rocky Knob, only distantly towards the Griffith shops, but there has been much more wirra-wirra-ing, and this morning an outbreak of the excited heh-heh-heh that signifies the curious courtship activity of this species

I heard a Koel calling close to Waramanga shops, in the late morning on Tuesday this week.

cheers
