the two terriers engaged in connectivity surveys experienced  wonderful close-up views of a spotted harrier early this morning. It suddenly emerged from behind our target tree flying just above a carpet of bright yellow St. Johns Wort, then banked quickly in our direction  to provide a  clear broadside view as it continued to quarter and patrol the nearby lower slopes towards the river.
