are back in the local area, arriving last Wednesday/Thursday 17/18 October,
about the same time as other subscribers were posting first returns. Since
then they seem to have been establishing themselves in the same two areas they
have occupied for the past few seasons, one around Hibiscus Cres in Rivett, and
the other around Rene St Chapman, about 1 km apart as the koel flies. The
former was uncharacteristically vocal between 17:30 and 18:15 tonight – all
calls so far have been the traditional ko-ell.
