Outing to Yanununbeyan SCA and NP

I suggest those coming from Canberra carpool at Spotlight (see blogpost if that location is unknown to you) so that you are ready to leave by 8am.   Sandra has kindly offered to coordinate the carpooling there, so an email to her at m("canberrabirds.org.au","cogoffice");"> would be helpful.  People coming from Eastern parts may wish to join in at the junction of Captains Flat Road and Briars Sharrow Road (if you're meeting there please let me know by reply to this).

I did a test drive yesterday and the road is in pretty good condition with a few eroded bits.  I'd suggest light 4WD and above would be safer.   There are lots of cattle where the road traverses Woolcara Station so take care.

The vegetation was spectacular with masses of flowering Fabaceae, mats of Tetratheca and many Stegostyla orchids.  The wind was appalling but we did see quite a few species, especially honeyeaters and a probable Painted Button-quail (it didn't hang around for a good look).
