Today I paid a visit to Jude Hopwood’s lush plantings out in the Lake George basin.  Fleeting views of diminutive meliphagids were on offer, recalling the similar sized chaps at Richard Allen’s banding site exactly 4 weeks ago.  In fact one has the impression that this Spring Canberra will be invaded by Black Honeyeaters from the west and Scarlet Honeyeaters from the east.  Few will quake in their boots at this prospect, except perhaps those convinced that SOMETHING IS GOING ON with our climate, and this is further evidence of it.  The colour combination is quite pleasing, and will appeal to supporters of a certain football team associated with Andrew Peacock and Peter Costello, perhaps an omen for a better season in 2013.
