The review is supposed to be published in the next edition of the Canberra Bird Notes - it was for this reason that Philip was given a copy of the book.  The Editor of the CBN has not yet seen the Review, although as Philip was asked to keep the Review to a smaller size, he may have decided to send some extra notes to the author directly.

I am in the process (almost finished) of writing a review of this book 'Birds of Prey of Australia: a Field Guide' by Stephen Debus. I have, just this minute, sent a draft of it, to the author, as there are some items I wish to clarify first. In general (and as expected, given the author and the topic) it is a scholarly, very accurate and somewhat innovative book. In its main function (a Field Guide) it is a big improvement on the first edition (and any other book). If you really have it for $27 that is a big saving and well worthwhile.

Hi COGers,
the updated edition of 'Birds of Prey of Australia: a Field Guide' by Stephen Debus will be available at the October - price $27.
Since ordering the book several people have approached me about it so only two copies will actually be available for sale.  If you want a copy you can let me know or order it at the meeting. NSW Books seem to have plenty in stock so additional books should be available at teh November meeting.

The John Gould's Extinct and endangerd Birds will not be available until the November meeting.
Regards
Roy
