Beautiful morning for surveying. A few of the regulars didn't put in an appearance, but a few which seldom show up made up for it. First site disappointing in that during it a jogger accompanied by very large unleashed dog made her way down the track about 50 metres away, putting to flight the choughs, rosellas etc as well as wood ducks off the nearby dam. (Dogs are not meant to be in Callum Brae at all). My second site (near dam closest to Mugga Lane) had some just out-of-site (and out-of-sight) gang-gangs, but their calling meant they made it into the survey results as 'Out - heard'. Throughout the morning I was seeing various parrots going in and out of holes, striated pardalotes were using holes in the gully at nursery corner, and choughs are nesting in several spots. Copulating kestrels are obviously keen to make this another good breeding year. Diamond firetails back in usual spot down near nursery corner. Unusually, saw 2 pipits - one up near the pumping station, and another near nursery corner. Plenty of white-throated gerygones, noisy friarbirds. Well over 40 species for the morning.
