Superb surprise

While photographing a Striated Pardalote nest late this afternoon, I heard a Superb Parrot call nearby and then some begging calls. Extracting myself from the pardalotes, I turned to find these two Superb Parrots on a tree not 10 metres away.  The female begged and was fed many times by the male before she crouched down, spread her wings and they copulated. The whole process appeared gentle and unhurried, not fitting the 'quite lively' description given by Forshaw in Australian Parrots.
