this afternoon at the wetlands - about 50 red-browed finches, one of the largest groups I've ever seen. And I'd be wary of sitting on the seat at the end of the (newish) cycleway bridge. a good-sized brown snake (about 5 ft) was exploring the various holes in the little stone wall behind seat - I watched it for about 10 minutes until it disappeared into a hole when a cyclist passed by - didn't come out again while I was there
