Further to the recent saga about a successful breeding of bronze wing pigeons in my backyard in Fraser, I can report a failed attempt. Yesterday morning (1 September) there was some serious courting between a pair of bronze wings  with much head bobbing, ritual feeding of the female by the male and the male puffing out its chest and wings. Later in the day I noticed a female occupying a former wattle bird nest in my garden which was about 4  metres off the ground in a calistemon (note: not the same callistemon as the previous breeding). However, this morning, the nest was unoccupied and there was a broken egg on the ground under the nest.  A pair of bronze wings were seen in my garden three times during the day but showed no interest in the nest.
