The Wednesday walk on September 19 will include a walk on a private
property, Illilanga at Michelago, and then a visit to Strike-a-Light TSR on the Jerangle Rd near Bredbo. Last year these spots produced some nice birds for us.
COG members Sandra Lauer and Jeremy Meares own Illilanga, which is monitored as part of the K2C surveys. The walk will start 9am, so aim to be at Illilanga by then.
The property is on Baroona Rd, Michelago. Baroona Road is approx. 9km past the the Michelago petrol station, off the Monaro Highway to the west (righthand side if you're coming from Canberra). Turn into Baroona Road & follow the bitumen road to the right when you come to an intersection with Weemala Lane. The house is the second on the left approx. 790m from the highway (number 79) - an A-frame up the hill. Parking is best on the verge near the letter box.
It's about a 20-25 minute drive from Calwell, 40-45 minutes from Fyshwick or Queanbeyan. Can those who want to carpool meet at Kambah shopping centre at 8.15am. When we've had a chance to look around at Illilanga, and had some morning tea, we'll proceed on to the Strike-a-Light TSR, which is 11k down the Jerangle Road. The turnoff is in Bredbo.
