Good morning The male nestling bronze wing at my place appears to have successfully fledged last evening. I took the attached pic of the female sitting near the nest just after 5.00pm. Sunset was about 5:35pm and when I returned at 6:30pm with a torch, both had gone. I checked around the nest for any evidence of the nestling having been taken by currawongs but there was none. I can only conclude that it left with its mother shortly after the pic was taken. The previous day I saw the nestling testing its wings in the nest ( to the annoyance of the male who was sharing the nest). Curiously I saw no incidences of harassment from pied currawongs yesterday despite them being an almost constant presence over the previous three days. Maybe its bronze wings 1 currawongs 0.
