Subject: [canberrabirds] ANBG bird info sought [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Dear COG members and friends,

As a graduate on a rotation at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, one of my projects is to complete the text for a bird app for Smartphones. I apologise if you have heard from me already–I have contacted volunteer guides and realise that some may also be on this chat line.

The bird app aims to help visitors discover the Gardens’ birds. We are keen to include specific information about ‘our’ birds and want to talk to people who regularly watch birds at the Gardens. If you would like to have some input, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you would be willing to provide comments on the draft text or interesting facts/stories about one or more of our local species. In chatting with volunteer guides, I have discovered several things that can’t be found in books e.g. our Crimson Rosellas strip the tree ferns in the rainforest gully and eat the spores, our fairy-wrens have been known to lay seven clutches in a season due to heavy predation by Brown Snakes.

I’d be happy to chat to you by phone, email or in person at the Gardens–whatever suits you best. If possible, please contact me within the next week however, as my rotation here will end quite soon.

Many thanks,

Paula
