While looking unsuccessfully for Bassian Thrushes this morning, I had the luck to stumble onto a Red-browed Treecreeper in the Sydney Gully, presumably the same individual as that recorded by John Leonard about 3 weeks ago. It was working its way up a large Brittle Gum (Eucalyptus mannifera) on the northern side of the gully, probing under, and often dislodging, small pieces of bark from the trunk and larger branches. When first seen it was barely 5 metres from me. Didn’t call at any stage.

Cheers

Steve
