The ANPS Wednesday walkers visited Mundoonen Nature Reserve yesterday.  Access was by an tunnel under the Hune Highway (on the old alignment of the highway marked as Sheldrick Lane off the new Highway, just past the junction with Yass Valley Way).  Very few birds were around with the most interesting being
  1. a flock of 8 Brown-headed Honeyeaters and
  2. 2 Spotted Quail-thrush.

Botanically, an excellent group of Xanthorrheas near Margules Trig stood out.

As we drove home a juvenile Spotted Harrier was seen departing from road-kill on the verge of the Barton Highway about 1km North of Murrumbateman.
